Joining Electro-fusion joining technology for CFRP

Technical Classification:
[ Joining ]
Products:
Keyword:
[ corrosion resistance ] [ Fusion joining ] [ recyclability ] [ spread carbon fiber ] [ tensile shearing strength ]

Point of the Proposed Technology

・Compared to the conventional fusion joining using a metallic resistance heating element, this technology substantially increases the tensile shearing strength of fusion joined portion.
・By using carbon fiber for the resistance heating element, the joining strength, recyclability and corrosion resistance are increased.

Effect(s)

・Realizing a tensile shearing strength of 30 MPa or more
・Improving the corrosion resistance and recyclability

Conventional Technology

・Mechanical joining
The increase in weight due to stress concentration and metallic fastening is a problem.

・Adhesion joining
Chemical bonding with thermoplastic resin is extremely low.
